So, It’s Your First Pregnancy – Here’s Everything You Need To Know!

Okay, first off… Congratulations!!!

Pregnancy is such a beautiful and WILD ride, full of surprises, twists, turns, extreme highs, extreme lows, and things you NEVERRRRRR knew were a thing… but fear little because it also brings some of the best moments you’ve ever had! 

Pregnancy is a time of excitement; of anticipation, and, of course, uncertainties. So, if this is your first time heading into this ‘motherhood’ thing – we’ve got you!!! This guide highlights all the things you need to know, so you can feel *slightly* more prepared to take the lead from ‘you’-hood to motherhood with confidence!

A Happy You = A Happy Pregnancy

Say it out loud, and then say it again! You've got to take care of you!!! But really, we mean that! As women, we typically put everyone else before ourselves – and your new little one is sure to take over a big place in your heart – but don’t forget that you still need to prioritize you and take care of you! You can’t pour from an empty cup, right? 

So, the first tip (that I wish I knew for my first pregnancy) is that a happy you = a happy pregnancy (i.e. TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF BABE!!). Easy things to do this: 

Repeat after me… self-care is not selfish!! Pregnancy is a time to prioritize the amazing woman you are and get ready to become an amazing mom! Embrace this opportunity to develop healthy habits that will benefit both you and your baby – MOVE! EAT! PLAY! Pregnancy doesn’t mean you have to give up the things that make you, you (or the things that make you feel good!!). 

Prenatal Vitamins Got Wayyyy Better 

Okay, and have you seen how beautiful the packaging of some prenatal vitamins are now?!!! They really do make you feel better and they’re a total ‘cool mom morning routine’ thing now. We have a list of our favourite ones over on @rumbly_co if you need some recos… 

The New Normal is That Nothing is Normal

Get ready for weird things to happen… It’s true that ‘everything’ is a symptom of pregnancy and that every pregnancy is different. Just get ready to go with the flow and take everything as a ‘fun surprise’ loll. 

On that note – if something feels ‘wrong’, trust yourself! Call your health care provider, doula or whoever is supporting you through this journey. Because every pregnancy is different, it’s hard to always know if ‘that’s normal’ – just trust yourself! 

You Can Still Be You

Shocking right? Pregnancy doesn’t mean changing everything about your life!! Some things are going to be different, but you don’t have to change your whole identity through pregnancy (or motherhood!!). 

Don’t let yourself sit inside for the whole 9 months – there’s lots of fun to be had!!! 

Do Pregnancy Your Way 

Every pregnancy is different – you gotta do it your way! What feels ‘right’ for someone else, might not be right for you and vis vera. How you dress, what you do, what you eat… it’s all up to you. 

There’s a lot of opinions out in the world. Don’t let them overwhelm you with ‘what you should be doing’ because no one knows better than you!
